Kawakawa has been used in traditional Māori healing for centuries. Its leaves contain a component called myristicin which helps trigger the release of nitric oxcide from cells. The release of nitric oxcide is the bodys’ anti-inflammatory response which means kawakawa aids the body in responding to inflammation.

We harvest Kawakawa leaves sustainably and in accordance with tikanga (customary Māori practices). We do a karakia (prayer of thanksgiving) before harvesting and only take as much as we will use, without damaging the plant.
